Chardon Home Loans

Last updated: 15 September 2026

Who we are

This website is shared by two Chardon businesses. In this policy, "we", "us" and "our" mean the business you deal with:

  • Ballina office — Chardon Home Loans: Loancheckr (Finance) Pty Ltd (ABN 73 634 164 926), formerly Vandalay Industries (Finance) Pty Ltd, Australian Credit Licence 517100. Chardon Home Loans is its registered business name.

  • Penrith office: Chardons Finance Group Pty Limited (ABN 90 071 499 744), Australian Credit Licence 380525. Holly Leaney is an Australian Credit Representative (number 538812) of Chardons Finance Group Pty Limited.

We're mortgage brokers. To help you find and apply for a loan, we need to collect and handle personal information about you. We're bound by the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), including the Australian Privacy Principles, and when we handle credit information, by Part IIIA of that Act and the Privacy (Credit Reporting) Code. This policy explains what we collect, why, who we share it with, and the choices you have.

The information we collect

Depending on how you deal with us, we may collect:

  • contact details, such as your name, address, phone number and email

  • identification, such as your date of birth, driver licence, passport or Medicare card

  • financial details, such as your income, employment, assets, debts, expenses, bank statements, payslips and tax returns

  • details of the loan you want and the property involved

  • credit information, such as your credit report, repayment history and existing credit accounts

  • information about other people in your application, such as a co-borrower or guarantor (please let them know, and point them to this policy)

  • records of our meetings, calls and emails with you

  • website and device information, such as your IP address, browser, the pages you visit, and cookie and similar identifiers

Sensitive information. Sometimes we need sensitive information, such as health information when you're asking about hardship assistance or insurance, or where it appears in documents you give us. We only collect it with your consent, or where the law allows.

Tax file numbers. We don't ask for your tax file number. If a document you give us shows it, we remove it straight away, before the document is stored.

Staying anonymous. You can ask us general questions without giving your name, or using a different name. To apply for a loan, though, lenders need to identify you, so we can't arrange a loan anonymously.

How we collect it

Mostly from you: in meetings, on the phone, by email, and through the forms and booking tools on our website. We may also collect it, with your consent where required, from:

  • lenders and credit providers

  • Equifax, the credit reporting body we use (only with your written consent, see Credit information)

  • your accountant, financial adviser, solicitor, conveyancer, employer or the person who referred you

  • valuers, mortgage insurers and others involved in your loan

  • identity verification services and public registers

If we receive information about you that we didn't ask for, and we couldn't have collected it ourselves, we'll destroy or de-identify it where it's lawful and reasonable to do so.

Why we collect, use and share it

  • to understand your situation and compare loan options for you, including meeting our best interests duty and responsible lending obligations

  • to prepare, submit and follow up your loan applications

  • to verify your identity, as lenders and the law require

  • to look after you and your loan after settlement

  • to meet our legal and licence obligations, including record keeping, complaints handling and dispute resolution

  • to run and improve our business, website and services

  • to tell you about products, services and events that may interest you (see Marketing)

We only use your information for these purposes, for related purposes you'd reasonably expect, with your consent, or where the law requires or allows it.

Who we share it with

We only share what's needed, with:

  • lenders and credit providers you're applying to, and their agents

  • Equifax, when you've given us written consent to obtain your credit report

  • our aggregator, Yellow Brick Road Aggregation, which provides the systems and lender access we use to submit applications

  • Salestrekker, the customer relationship management system we use to manage client files and applications

  • valuers, mortgage insurers, conveyancers, solicitors and settlement agents

  • people you authorise, such as your accountant or financial adviser

  • other service providers who help run our business, such as IT, cloud storage, website, email and online booking providers

  • our compliance advisers, auditors, insurers and professional advisers

  • the Australian Financial Complaints Authority (AFCA), regulators, courts and government bodies, where the law requires or allows it

We don't sell your personal information.

Credit information

When we help you apply for credit, we act on behalf of the lender. While we do, the Privacy Act treats us as a credit provider, and the credit reporting rules apply to how we handle your credit information.

  • What we collect and hold: identification details, the fact you have applied for credit and the amount, your current and past credit accounts, repayment history, defaults, court judgements, personal insolvency information, and information derived from your credit report, such as a credit score.

  • How: from you, from lenders and from Equifax. We only obtain your credit report with your written consent. We hold credit information with our other records about you (see Storage and security).

  • Why: to assess which loans may suit you, and to help lenders assess and manage your application.

  • Credit reporting body: we use Equifax. Equifax's credit reporting policy, on its website, explains how it manages credit information. You can ask Equifax not to use your information for pre-screening of direct marketing, or not to use or disclose it if you believe you've been, or are likely to be, a victim of fraud.

  • Access, correction and complaints: see the sections below.

  • Overseas: see Overseas disclosure.

Marketing

We may send you information about products, services and events. You can opt out at any time: use the unsubscribe link in any email, reply STOP to a text message, or contact us. Every marketing message identifies us and includes a way to opt out.

Website, cookies and advertising tools

When you visit our website, we and our service providers use cookies, pixels and similar tools to understand how the site is used, measure our advertising and show relevant ads. These providers include Wix and Google, and may include Meta and Microsoft as we add advertising and site analytics tools. The tools collect device and browsing information, which can be linked to other information about you. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, and change your ad preferences in your Google, Meta and Microsoft accounts.

Storage and security

We hold your information in electronic systems, including Salestrekker and other cloud services, and in paper files at our offices. We take reasonable steps to protect it from misuse, interference and loss, and from unauthorised access, change or disclosure, including access controls, secure systems and staff confidentiality. We keep client records for seven years, then destroy or de-identify them securely.

If a data breach is likely to cause you serious harm, we'll tell you and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner, as the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme requires.

Overseas disclosure

Some of our service providers store or process information outside Australia, including in the United States. When we disclose information overseas, we take reasonable steps to make sure it's handled consistently with the Australian Privacy Principles.

Automated decisions

We don't use computer programs to make decisions about you that could significantly affect your rights or interests. A member of our team is always involved. Lenders you apply to may use automated tools in their own assessments, and their privacy policies explain how.

Accessing and correcting your information

You can ask for access to the personal information and credit information we hold about you, or ask us to correct it, using the contact details below. There's no charge to make a request. We'll respond within 30 days. If providing access involves significant work, we may charge a reasonable fee to cover it, and we'll tell you before we do. If we refuse a request, we'll explain why in writing and tell you how to complain.

Complaints

If you think we've mishandled your personal or credit information, please contact our Privacy Officer first. We'll acknowledge your complaint within one business day and give you a final response within 30 days. If we need longer, we'll tell you why.
